Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion serve our parish on a weekly basis by distributing the Precious Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Some extraordinary ministers are also available to bring Communion to the sick and homebound of our parish. To become an Extraordinary Minister, you must be approved by the pastor and attend a workshop conducted by the Office of Worship.

Thank you for your service as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion (EMHC). Please carefully review the guidelines below before signing up to serve:
EMHC will come up into the sanctuary as normal, that is, via Mary's altar during the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God).
EMHC will receive Holy Communion from the priest.
EMHC will put on his or her mask. (Wearing a mask is strongly recommended while distributing Holy Communion.)
EMHC will use hand sanitizer that will be located on the small table in the archway next to Mary's altar.
EMHC will receive a ciborium from the priest or deacon.
EMHC will proceed to the assigned station.
After distributing Holy Commuion:
EMHC will return the ciborium to the altar.
EMHC will rinse their finger in the ablution cup that will be located next to the hand sanitizer.
EMHC will use handsanitizer before returning to his or her place in the congregation.
We also ask that you please review the dress code for liturgical ministers that can be found below.
Thank you for your careful attention to these directions.
Serving at the altar of the Lord and in the sanctuary during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is a privilege and a sacred duty. It is important for all liturgical ministers to keep in mind our duty to help the members of the congregation keep their focus on the prayers and actions of the liturgy and not on us, who are serving as ministers. For this reason, ministers should dress reverently and with decorum. Clothing that is too casual or too flamboyant may distract the congregation from the liturgical prayers and actions. Clothing that is immodest may cause scandal among God’s holy people.
According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church: “The Mass is at the same time, and inseparably, the sacrificial memorial in which the sacrifice of the cross is perpetuated and the sacred banquet of communion with the Lord’s body and blood.” (CCC 1382). Moreover, the Catechism recognizes the need for outward signs of our inward reverence for what is happening at Holy Mass. “Bodily demeanor (gestures, clothing, attitudes) ought to convey the respect, solemnity, and joy of this moment when Christ becomes our guest” (CCC 1387). We hope that this Dress Code will assist our parish family in fostering a deeper respect and reverence at Mass.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Fr. Jonathan directly. May God continue to bless all of us as we strive to serve worthily at the Altar of the Lord.
