Baptism, Confirmation, and the Most Holy Eucharist together constitute the “sacraments of Christian initiation,” whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For “by the sacrament of Confirmation” [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1285)
In the Archdiocese of New Orleans, the Sacrament of Confirmation is ordinarily celebrated for teenagers in the eleventh grade.
We ask that all families of students entering 11th grade contact the parish office so that we can help teens to prepare for this important sacrament.
You can call us at 504-488-2659 or email us at office@olr-nola.org. You can also find more information at our Confirmation Preparation page.
For adults who have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation, our parish offeres preparation classes for adults who may then receive the sacrament from our Archbishop at the Cathedral on the Feast of Pentecost (late May or early June). Please contact the office for more information.
